This meeting will discuss how making improvements to existing buildings and youngstock management can benefit animal health and performance on beef and dairy farms.
Our main speaker Jamie Robertson from Livestock Systems Ltd has 40 years experience with livestock systems and will talk through the optimal shed design for ventilation and air flow and the steps to take to improve existing shed ventilation. He will also discuss how to make more from your existing building through simple upgrades which can help reduce running costs, for example straw use, labour, and medicines.
Katrina Henderson from SRUC Veterinary Services will discuss how to manage calves and youngstock during the housing period to reduce the incidence of pneumonia and other secondary diseases.
Do you have a problem building? If so bring some photos and Jamie will identify a solution.
A hot lunch will be provided, so please book your place. As this is an on farm meeting remember to wear warm/clean clothing and footwear suitable for disinfection.
