A Season with Sheep (South Uist)
Are you Prepared for your Upcoming Lambing?
The focus of this meeting is practical lambing, with a good blend of theory and practical experience delivered by:
- Siobhan MacDonald – SAC Consulting
- Eilidh Corr – SAC Veterinary Services
- Local Vet
The meeting will start with a session on What stands between your pregnant ewe and a healthy lamb? This will cover:
- colostrum management including sourcing and storage
- condition scoring
- nutrition
- disease risks
- neonatal management
Attendees will also have the opportunity to practice intraperitoneal (IP) injections in dead lambs and difficult deliveries with the aid of a lambing simulator.
Although the practical session focuses on lambing, most of the content is transferable to calvings and other farmed livestock.
This meeting is suitable for all levels of lambing experience from beginner to expert. All participants will leave this workshop with plenty of hints and tips for a successful lambing.
If you are pregnant or think you may be, it is advised you do not attend this meeting.
