Alternatives to land ownership – North Region

Join us on Saturday 24th September from 1pm – 4pm at Sittyton Farm, Newmachar by kind permission of Clarke Hibberd & Meg Morrison for a joint FAS and SAYFC meeting.
We will have a farm tour where there will be the opportunity to hear how Clarke and Meg secured their 5 year SLDT as well as being self-employed contractors, the challenges they faced and their advice to fellow new entrants. Clarke, who started  at a farm worker and was shortlisted in the British Farming New Entrant award in 2021, now runs Sittyton as an organic sheep farm alongside seasonal lets, hogg to gimmer contracting and contract shearing. There will also be two workshop sessions on joint venture opportunities with Allan Young of the Scottish Land Matching Service and accountancy and business planning for tenancy applications with Jane Mitchell of Johnston Carmichael accountants.
