Cattle & Sheep Handling Facilities a Common Approach – Stornoway
Handling systems for cattle and sheep are often labour intensive and a mis-match of old and new.
Dr Simon Turner, an expert in handling systems, will present recent research on cattle behaviour and how that affects how systems are designed for improved animal welfare, reduced labour inputs and better health and safety. He will then lead a practical session at Barvas Village cattle handling system and at the Upper Carloway Township sheep and cattle system.
Janette Sutherland, SAC Consulting: Skye, and Iain Macmillan, SAC Consulting: Lewis & Harris, will lead discussion on funding support and sheep handling systems.
