Cattle & Sheep Handling Facilities: A Common Approach

Handling systems for cattle and sheep are often labour intensive and a mis-match of old and new.

Dr Simon Turner, SRUC expert in handling systems, will lead this workshop. He will present recent research on cattle behaviour and how that affects;

• How systems are designed for improved animal welfare
• Reduced labour inputs
• Better health and safety

He will then lead a practical session which will design a new cattle handling system at Borneskitaig Township.

Janette Sutherland, SAC Consulting, Portree, will lead discussion on funding support and sheep handling systems.

Suitable outdoor clothes and footwear are essential.
