Crofting Sheep Stornoway – Pre-Tupping MOT

With tupping time fast approaching, now’s the time to get your breeding stock in top condition for a successful lambing season.

Join us at Lewis & Harris Auction Mart for an informative and practical Pre-Tupping MOT session, where Raymond Crerar of SAC Consulting will share expert advice on assessing and preparing both rams and ewes for the breeding season. The session will cover key health, soundness and fertility checks, as well as the importance of body condition scoring to ensure animals are fit for breeding and to help maximise scanning percentages and improve lamb crop performance.

Raymond will also discuss the use of teaser rams, explaining how they can help tighten the lambing period and highlighting the important management considerations required to use them effectively. In addition, he will share insights into the benefits of blood sampling ewes prior to tupping, helping you identify potential nutritional or mineral deficiencies and make informed management decisions ahead of breeding.
