Derelict to Productive: Green Grow the Rashes O’

Do you have a problem with rushes? Are they invading your grazing, and difficult to control?

This event is targeted at crofters who are looking of ways to improve long-term grazing of rush infested land.

The event will be hosted by Iain Macmillan, SAC Lewis and Harris. Robert Ramsay, Beef Consultant, Farm and Business Services, will lead the discussion focusing on the following:

• what is needed to address waterlogged, acidic soil; including soil type and analysis
• reseeding
• liming
• drainage
• rush management
• grazing management
• the timing of all these operations.

Iain Macmillan will then lead a discussion on grant options and to look at practical issues for small scale management. The evening will conclude with a question and answer session so get your questions ready!
