Integrating Trees Network – Walking and Talking trees with Hamish MacDonald
Hamish MacDonald will introduce us to Southfield, an upland tenanted farm of 628 acres. Home to the Innovis 1000 ewe nucleus flock and a new venture into woodland creation. We will discuss how and why they have integrated 38 acres of native broad leaves on farm. Their initial thought process, objectives, challenges, and benefits, for the business and the environment e.g. shelter for livestock, provision of additional fencing for subdividing large areas of rough grazing, enhancing biodiversity, flood mitigation and carbon for the business, strengthening the overall environmental capital of the farm. We will have speakers from Scottish Forestry and Tweed Forum joining us to discuss funding and first steps to woodland creation. Book your free place here. Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be provided. As this is a farmer-led network please come along and bring your questions and ideas to help us guide future events. Find out about the Network, its hosts and useful info here
