Lothian Women in Agriculture – Meeting 3 Policy Update

Book

There are changes coming to the subsidies that farmers will receive in the future.  The current BPS system will be in place until 2025.  The new rural support regime will integrate enhanced conditionality of at least half of all funding for farming and crofting.  As part of this conditionality, recipients of support will be expected to deliver on targeted outcomes for biodiversity gain and low emissions production.  We have seen some of these changes start to come into play with the Preparing for Sustainable Farming grant for carbon audits and soil sampling, but what is next?  Join the Lothians Women in Agriculture group to hear from SRUC Policy specialist Steven Thomson, who has his finger on the pulse of all things rural policy.  Steven will cover the likely changes that we can expect and what that might mean for your farming businesses.  The meeting will be informal and relaxed, and will conclude with a buffet lunch.
