New Entrants to Farming: Deer farming as an alternative enterprise – Ayrshire
We’re looking at deer farming at the third in our series of meetings for New Entrants in Ayrshire.
Join us when we visit the Rathore family who moved to Coylton near Ayr two years ago to set up a deer farm. We’ll hear how the business has grown and become established during the two years since the family moved. We’ll have the opportunity to see the breeding stock and calves as well as a chance to view the newly installed infrastructure that is required to farm deer on a commercial basis.
Topics for discussion will include:
- Deer husbandry
- Livestock Nutrition
- What’s involved when starting up a new business
- Market research & promotion
As lunch is provided, please use the booking form below to secure your place and to help us arrange catering. This is an on-farm event and you are requested to wear clean footwear suitable that can be disinfected out of courtesy to our host farmer.
