New Entrants to Farming: Butchery Diversification (North East)
The meeting will be hosted by the Bruce family at Bogside Farm, King Edward on the 24th October at 7.30pm. The meeting will highlight how to add value to produce, while using the host farms butchery as a case study. The Bruce family will explain their own experiences of how they started their added value journey and what key pitfalls to be ready for as well as explaining their business.
The Bruce family started the butchery business in 2005 and have very quickly achieved an excellent reputation in supplying quality products, which are bred and reared either on site or locally. These products include beef, pork and lamb. As well as having a butchery and shop on site, the family attend up to four farmers markets a month to direct sell their produce to local customers.
This event will allow for more information in direct selling and adding value to produce, as well as hearing from someone who has built an extremely successful business in this market.
