Midgarth Farm, run by Adrian & Marion Miller is our new Soil & Nutrient Network host farm for Orkney.
This is the first of 3 meetings aimed at highlighting the value of our soils. We will meet at the Stronsay Community Centre and before moving onto Midgarth Farm with the kind permission of Adrian and Marion.
Guest speakers & topics
- Dr Bill Crooks, SAC Consulting, is a soils expert who will discuss the soil analysis reports for the farm & explain how best to address deficiencies using available farm yard manures and slurry.
- Gavin Elrick, SAC Consulting is a soil & drainage expert who will lead a practical session about soil structure. This will include a field demonstration of machinery that can be used to alleviate compaction.
