The Meeting will discuss “The Changing Context of Agricultural Support”. The meeting will also look at the MF audit and a discussion on livestock building ventilation and the use of boluses re-heat detection, calving alerts and health monitoring.
- Kirsty and Aimee will give an update on what has been happening at Bigton since the previous meeting
- We are delighted to welcome Steven Thomson SRUC Agricultural Economist who will be speaking about ” The Changing Context of Agricultural Support”.
- Derek Hanton will update us re the Bigton farm audit
- We will also hear about the Breckon farm system and visit the farm. Among the discussion points will be ventilation of livestock buildings and the farms recent introduction of Smaxtec boluses to aid heat dectection, plus provide calving alerts and health monitoring.
A bus will be running from the South Mainland with several pick up points on route to the 09.45 ferry from Toft ferry departing from Mainlands Shop at 08.00.

Aiming to finish by 3pm and catch the 16.30 ferry from Ulsta. Those people from the first pick up point should be back around 18.00
