‘The Principles of Soil & Metal Interactions’ will be the theme for this soil & tillage event on the Mertoun Estate, near St Boswells.
Join us for an interactive meeting with guest speaker Philip Wright from Wright Resolutions. Philip is a chartered engineer and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the understanding of soil structure and the impacts of cultivation methods. He has been involved with many equipment manufacturers in the development and design of reduced tillage cultivators and drills.
We’ll move the event outdoors to see ‘theory in practice’ by looking at static equipment (both conventional and min-till) provided by our host farm and a local dealership. SAC Consulting’s Donald Dunbar will also talk through the benefits of getting to know your soils through a number of available soil analysis tests. Knowing the biological health of your soils is as important as knowing the structural and chemical statuses to allow you to make the best management decisions to maximise crop productivity.
