Viable Small-scale Horticulture
Having a diverse range of enterprises within a business just makes sense, where possible and practical having multiple facets to a business can increase income potential, sustainability and make use of different land types that may not be available for field scale agricultural activities.
In this meeting we look at what is involved in establishing and managing a small-scale horticulture venture whether this is open top or with poly-tunnels, along with a market overview for the fruit and veg sectors following the Brexit trade deal.
Having fruits and vegetables growing on the farm also has the added benefit of providing additional habitat for important pollinator species, having compounded benefits for biodiversity more broadly.
Speakers:
- Dr Audrey Litterick of Earthcare Technical
- Paul Mayfield, SAC Consulting Food and Drink specialist
