Networking & Support
Networking, meeting other people starting out, making contacts with key industry people and hearing others ideas is a fantastic route, to being motivated and inspired to continue on your journey as a new entrant.
Through the New Entrants to Farming Programme, we have a network of local regional groups whom meet up 2-3 times throughout the year along with guest professionals, they discuss business and technical subjects relevant to new entrants.
To enhance the group work, we hold an annual “gathering” and release two newsletters per year. The aim of the “gathering” is to inform and inspire people entering the agricultural industry, this is an extremely useful event to anyone new to the industry or indeed any young people working within agriculture.
New Entrants to Farming Programme also hosts a Facebook page, to highlight any opportunities or good news stories within the network @NewEntrants
The Farm Advisory Service (FAS), exists to help new farmers and crofters grow their business through a range of business development support and one-to-one advisory services.
As a new farmer or crofter, you are entitled to access a range of subsidised expert business support, to help you increase the profitability and sustainability of your new business. FAS can also arrange for an experienced farm adviser to visit your business, perform a critical assessment and offer you expert advice on a range of farming related topics, tailored to your specific business needs.
