Crofting Group Lairg- Pre Lambing and Calving Nutrition
Join Us for a Meeting on Nutrition
Successful lambing and calving depends on meeting the dam’s nutritional needs throughout pregnancy. For sheep, this is especially important in the final six weeks, when most foetal growth occurs and the ewe is also developing her udder and producing colostrum.
High energy and protein demands continue into lactation, and nutrition and health directly influence the growth and performance of offspring.
We will cover the basics of nutrition, explain some of the jargon, how to assess condition and easy top tips to help you choose the right feed.
Supper provided. Please arrive for a 6.30pm start.
