Croft & Common Grazing Wildlife Walk – Isle of Harris

Join us for a guided wildlife walk across the beautiful crofting landscapes of Northton Common Grazings, South Harris. Explore the rich machair, saltmarsh, grassland and moorland habitats that support an incredible variety of wildflowers, pollinators and farmland birds.

Find out how crofting and livestock management help maintain these special habitats, and how the area in general supports species such as the Great Yellow Bumblebee, Skylark, Lapwing and Corncrake, alongside colourful summer flowers.

Whether you’re an active crofter or simply interested in the wildlife of our common grazings, come along to learn more about the unique link between crofting and nature in Northton.

Please wear suitable outdoor/waterproof clothing and footwear as this is an outdoor event. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided after the walk.

Booking is essential.

This event will involve walking over uneven terrain and may not be suitable for those with restricted mobility.

Please note: there is limited parking in Northton. Please be mindful of where you park to avoid obstructions and car share where possible.
