Cull Ewe Price and Eid

22 July 2019

Eid al-Adha falls on the 12 August this year (2019) and provides an opportunity to sell early weaned cull ewes over the next couple of weeks into higher demand.

As supply floods the market, the price may not jump significantly but there is a ready market, particularly this year as many ewes are in good condition.

Early culling means less stock on farm and reduces worm and fly burdens.  Weaned lambs will benefit from reduced competition with the ewes as long as they have good quality grass or forages to graze.

Just be careful of withdrawal periods if recently treated!  For example, any ewes treated for lameness or flystrike, check the product details for the withdrawal period.
