Livestock Productivity - Beef

Scotland is now committed to net zero carbon emissions by 2045, and the Scottish agricultural sector has a key role to play.  Reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from farming are already evident, but there is still a lot to be done e.g. moving from a 24 month to a 12-month finishing system will greatly improve both farm profits and carbon outputs.  Feed efficiencies and improved herd genetics will be key in achieving savings.

Ensuring production systems are efficient will help reduce emissions and strongly correlates with reduced production costs per kilogram of beef sold, increasing farm profitability.

Our livestock pages have more information on beef production.
