Biodiversity Audit Workshop Achiltibuie – Understanding the Whole Farm Plan

The 2028 deadline for completing your Whole Farm Plan is approaching faster than you might think, and the Biodiversity Audit is a key part of the process. Whilst completing a Biodiversity Audit may seem daunting at first, it’s something you can do yourself once you know what to look for.

Meet at the hall for a cuppa and an explanation of the Whole Farm Plan, and its five elements. We’ll explain which elements are relevant to you, what you need to do for each, provide resources to help you get started and key deadlines:

• Animal Health and Welfare Plan
• Soil Analysis
• Integrated Pest Management Plans
• Carbon Audits
• Biodiversity Audits

In the afternoon we’ll focus on the Biodiversity Audit and begin with a croft walk, where we’ll identify and discuss the range of habitats found.

After the walk, you’ll have the opportunity to work on your own habitat maps. If you’d like to make a start on your own Biodiversity Audit, please bring a copy of your croft map with you.

This practical workshop will help you identify the different habitats on your croft and show you how to map them as part of your Biodiversity Audit.

This workshop is free to attend and open to all crofter and smallholders. We will meet at 10.30am at Coigach Community Hall.

Part of the event will be held outdoors and involve walking over uneven ground.
Suitable footwear and clothing are essential.
