Croft Wildlife Walk – Shetland
We will be holding a Croft Wildlife Walk on the evening of Thursday the 22nd May at 6pm. We will be kindly hosted by Martyn Nicolson at the Hams of Muckle Roe. He also has a shed there for a more sheltered space to talk if needed.
Speakers –
- Paul Chapman our SAC Ecologist who will discuss the habitats and wildlife we find and management practices that are working in Shetland for the biodiversity we have.
- Joana Ferreira, a conservation biologist – her field of interest is invertebrates (earthworms, spiders and insects).
The aim is to have an enjoyable evening walk and have a closer look at the biodiversity around us and what we are doing/can be doing to protect and enhance it. To keep the walk short enough for an evening event, we will be heading out a good part of the way to the Hams of Muckle Roe on the track which is only suitable for 4×4 vehicles. If you would like to come along, please book and let us know how many of you there are and if you will be able to come in a 4-wheel drive vehicle and accompany others from the meeting point or if you will require a space in someone else’s vehicle to get out to Martyn’s Shed.
