Crofting Sheep Stornoway – Nutrition and Condition Scoring
All crofters welcome!
Join us on Tuesday 11th August for an informative evening with Lorna Shaw Senior Sheep Nutritionist at SAC Consulting, who will explore the vital role nutrition plays in flock health, lamb growth, and overall farm profitability.
During the session, you’ll learn how good nutrition influences lamb performance at every stage of production, helping you maximise growth rates, improve ewe and lamb health, and make the most of your feed resources.
The session will also cover the principles of body condition scoring, with practical demonstrations to help you confidently assess your own sheep. You’ll learn what condition scores mean, when to assess your flock, and how condition scoring can be used as a valuable management tool to support feeding decisions, improve productivity, and enhance flock welfare.
Whether you’re new to sheep farming or have years of experience, this is an excellent opportunity to refresh your knowledge, ask questions, and gain practical advice from an industry expert.
Catering will be provided so booking is essential.
Please arrive at 6.15pm for supper.
Meal options are ready for selection when you book your spot.
