Plot tours will be looking at Winter Wheat and Spring Barley. This will be a great opportunity to meet with local farmers and industry representatives to hear the latest in crop developments.
Come along to Southfield Farm on the 24th June at 5pm to hear from researchers to decide on your varieties for harvest 2026. SRUC have been running national and recommended list trials in East Lothian for many years and you can hear firsthand about the current and upcoming winter wheat and spring barley varieties. You will hear an update on how the varieties have come through the winter and spring and there will be recommendations on varieties to look out for in 2026.
Additionally, there will be updates on fungicides and how products have compared against others in the previous year’s trials.
Other topics will include information on policy change, the new Future Farming Investment Scheme, grain market update and plot tours.
There will be a BBQ and refreshments at 5pm, with the meeting starting at 6pm.
Booking is essential for catering purposes.
