Deer Farming – Barwhillanty Estate Visit

Book event

Our next deer farming meeting will be at Barwhillanty Estate on Wednesday 30th September.

The focus of the day will be on diversification, field to fork meat sales and we will also discuss deer benchmarking and KPI recording.

The estate has been in the Yerburgh family for several generations. Forestry is the core business alongside farming and sporting interests. Oscar and Maria Yerburgh (the current custodians) have  a strong commitment to conservation and responsible land management. The deer and sheep farming enterprises are run  by Farm Manager Tim Cooke.

There is also a new deer larder where roe deer can be processed for local sales and for in-house catering. A recently opened events space has proved a popular diversification and there are several holiday cottages with guests able to pre-order both lamb and venison before their stay.
