Deer Farming – Meikle Findowie Visit

Book event

“Daylength and Deer” – How seasonality affects nutritional requirements and potential growth rates and how to plan to maximise seasonal growth and options for carry over stock and year-round supply.

As well as deer there are around 14 highland cows with mostly Angus cross calves at foot. They will be running with a shorthorn bull this year.

There is around 100 ha of native woodland planting on the hill and the farm is home to more than 14 breeding years pairs of curlew. The original deer were live captured wild deer using a system of self-closing gates.
