Lameness Control – Keep Your Flock a Step Ahead

Book event

Lameness is one of the most important welfare issues in the sheep industry.  It costs the industry £80 – 85 million per annum.

Join us at the Trentham Hotel, Dornoch followed by a visit to Davochfin Farm to hear from industry experts Lucy Rogers of Foundry Vets and SRUC Vet Kythe Mackenzie, as they discuss the differences between the different types of lameness, from scald to CODD, and from foot rot to toe granuloma.  They will also cover foot shears hygiene, lameness prevention and cure as well as a practical look at footbathing set-ups.

The interactive event will be split between theory based in the Trentham hotel and practical aspects on farm at Davochfin.  Whether you already have a lameness issue on your farm/croft or want to be prepared, this event will provide useful insights, discussion and take-home ideas that can be applied on your own farm or croft.

The event is free to attend, but places must be booked in advance for catering purposes.

This event will involve walking and standing on uneven ground for part of the visit. Appropriate footwear and outdoor clothing are advised. Please let us know at the time of booking if you have any accessibility requirements.
