Perthshire Women in Agriculture: Ticks and Tick-borne Disease

Come along to the next Perthshire Women in Agriculture meeting on Friday 21st August at McDiarmid Park, Perth, 10.30am start. This event will give you an opportunity to hear from the Lurgan Sheep Vet on Ticks and Tick-borne diseases. This will be an opportunity to hear first-hand from a veterinary specialist on the most common tick-borne diseases and the challenges that these present on farm.  

What will you learn? 

  • The most common tick-borne diseases 
  • How they affect health and performance in sheep 
  • What does tick-acclimatised livestock mean and why is it important when buying in new stock 
  • The role of tick-borne fever in predisposing animals to secondary infections such as Pasteurella, joint ill, louping ill.
