Throughout the day, you will gain practical knowledge and ideas that you can apply to your own growing projects. Discover how a successful market garden operates, learn techniques to improve your own production, and build confidence through learning and discussion with experts and fellow participants.

  • A guided tour of the farm and market garden – Explore the diverse vegetable, fruit and cut flower production areas while learning about growing practices, crop planning, and how the farm successfully supplies fresh produce.
  • Introduction to seed saving – Discover the principles of saving your own seed, why it is an important skill for resilient and sustainable growing, and how you can begin producing quality seed at home.
  • Flower and pot plant production – Learn practical techniques for growing healthy flowers and pot plants, with tips that can enhance both productivity and diversity on your own holding or garden.

Event schedule

10:30 – Arrival, introductions and coffee

Participants will be divided into three groups.

11:00

  • Group 1: Farm tour (1.5 hours)
  • Group 2: Introduction to seed saving (45 minutes)
  • Group 3: Flower and pot plant production (45 minutes)

Groups will rotate after lunch so everyone takes part in each session.

12:30 – Lunch

13:30

  • Groups 2 and 3: Farm tour
  • Group 1: Seed saving and flower & pot plant production workshops

15:00 – Event concludes

A light lunch will be provided so booking is essential for catering. Please let us know of any dietary requirements when booking.

The farm tour involves walking around the market garden on uneven ground, so please wear suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear.
