Rotational Grassland & Forage Crop Management – Preparing for Autumn

This event will be a farm walk/tour looking at the benefits that rotational grazing has brought to Keith Stewart at Cocklarachy, and how he is managing his cattle and sheep enterprises.

Just as farmers need to prepare for spring grazing, grassland farmers need to maintain their swards into the Autumn, and this visit will provide timely reminders on grassland management for this time of year.

Grass reseeds are often established in August and an overview of what grass, clover and herbal ley mixtures to consider will also be given.

Feeding forage crops to cattle & sheep in the autumn can extend the grazing period helping to reduce housing requirements, and preparation is needed to ensure that livestock performance is not restricted.

A range of experts will therefore be on hand to help provide timely reminders and handy tips.
