Understanding Farm and Croft Accounts for WiA
In this meeting for women in agriculture, we are looking at what a set of accounts (the report you receive from the accountant) actually tells you.
We will find out about accounting terms and what the different sections and the figures in accounts mean for farmers and crofters. Is tax saving an excuse for shiny new things? Does the balance sheet mean you can retire? Is it better to buy a tractor or a shed for tax purposes? What is depreciation and how is it worked out? What do the capital accounts tell you? Does the Profit & Loss sheet tell you how much money is going into the bank? What’s the herd basis?
We will be meeting at 10.45am for tea and coffee at the Drumossie Hotel, Inverness, followed by an 11am start. This event will include a talk, a quiz and questions with Margi Campbell and Nina Gritter from Saffery.
