David Keiley (SAC Dairy Specialist) opened the meeting by giving an update on the current milk market within Scotland.  This session covered UK farmgate milk production, world production, dairy commodity price trends, production forecasts, price volatility, futures markets and an overview of milk buyer performance.

David went on to introduce two business case studies.  The group were asked to consider a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats) analysis of the two businesses.  The analysis stimulated a lot of ideas and discussion.
