Grant Funding to Support Fuel-Efficient Choices

9 June 2026

Global market pressures mean fuel costs remain high, with no clear timeline for when they may ease. In the meantime, it’s vital for farm and crofting businesses to focus on improving fuel use efficiency wherever possible. Even small adjustments to day-to-day operations can reduce consumption, and modest percentage savings can quickly add up to meaningful financial benefits.

Improving efficiency across a farm business often benefits from an independent, expert perspective. Through Scotland’s Farm Advisory Service (FAS), farmers and crofters can access specialist advice on business efficiency to help identify practical ways to streamline operations, reduce costs, and strengthen overall financial performance. Businesses may also choose to undertake an Integrated Land Management Plan (ILMP), providing a whole-farm review and a clear, step-by-step plan to support profitability and long-term sustainability.

With up to £3,200 available for up to two specialist advice topics, and £2,000 available for an ILMP, you can access tailored guidance to improve efficiency and make better use of resources such as fuel and machinery. To apply or find an adviser, visit the FAS website or contact advice@fas.scot or 0300 323 0161.
