North East Organic Discussion Group 1 – event summary

8 March 2017

35 organic farmers or those thinking of converting to organic production gathered for the launch of the NE Organic Discussion Group at Craibstone on  Wednesday the 8th of March. There was plenty of discussion including future topics for meetings and the benchmarking was introduced. The group will look at and compare pH which can be a limiting factor to output, profit and efficiency.

As well as technical issues, the supply chain was highlighted as a crucial area to be looked at.  Presentations on the importance of pH including a visit to the pH plots in Woodlands Field which provided visual reinforcement of the message, an organic market outlook and the Organic Action Plan were well received. The group will provide a good networking and knowledge transfer opportunity.

A positive start for the group.
