Springtime Support with Livestock Health and Pasture Management
21 May 2026Spring brings a rapid shift in grassland and livestock management. Rising temperatures and longer days stimulate rapid pasture growth, creating both new opportunities and challenges. Maintaining sward quality, preventing poaching, and managing rising parasite risks can make early‑season grazing decisions more complex. Balancing grass utilisation with livestock performance while keeping an eye on soil condition and welfare becomes essential as the season accelerates. This could involve reviewing grazing management, soil nutrient status or introducing preventative animal health measures.
To help you to navigate these challenges, the Farm Advisory Service (FAS) offers up to £3,200 in grant funding for two specialist advice options, enabling a deeper exploration of key management issues. Specialist advice topics include animal health and welfare, soil and nutrient management and landscape and habitat management, which can be combined to provide practical, expert insight to strengthen grazing decisions, support animal health and bolster the environmental resilience of grassland systems.
