The 2026 Sheep and Goat Annual Inventory

If you are a sheep or goat keeper, you will recently have received communication from the Scottish Government regarding the 2026 Sheep and Goat Annual Inventory. You will now need to be registered with ScotEID to complete your 2026 Sheep and Goat Annual Inventory and will require an online login. 

• You may already be registered with ScotEID, in which case you do not need to register again. However, if you are currently registered only as a cattle or pig keeper, you will need to log into your ScotEID account and add sheep and goats to your registration. 

• This is different from how the Sheep and Goat Annual Inventory was previously completed. Previously, anyone could complete the inventory on your behalf, provided they had the business CPH number. This will no longer be an option. 

• The 2026 inventory will be open from 1 December 2026 to 30 January 2027 and can be completed through your online account via a dedicated section of the ScotEID website  

If you would like an agent to complete the inventory on your behalf, you must ensure that your chosen agent is mandated to access your ScotEID account before the inventory is due. We recommend you check your ScotEID account now, rather than waiting until December.
