The Women in Agriculture Knowledge Transfer meeting was held in Halkirk recently led by SAC Consultant Cat MacGregor.
An excellent turnout of over 30 women attended the event. Joyce Campbell gave an overview of the taskforce involved in launching the programme and highlighted the importance of Women in Agriculture. Its work will be centered around the recommendations in the published Women in Farming & Agricultural Sector Research Report.
The meeting focus was entitled “First Steps to a New Field” – An overview to look at other income streams and ideas for diversification was then delivered to the group with some excellent questions being asked throughout.
Guest speakers Michelle Bowley of Saladworx and Patricia Sutherland of Caithness Summer Fruits both shared their journeys on becoming successful business women through diversification of their crofts.
After a farm visit to Berry Croft, Cat Macgregor then wrapped up the session with thanking everyone for coming and contributing to the session.
