GATT
GATT or General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade was the result of first major international trade organisation. It commenced life in 1947 and for almost half of the twentieth century it provided the rules for world trade. In 1994 the GATT was succeeded by the World Trade Organisation (WTO) but the framework remains to this day.
