Check Brassica Grazing Stock

11 December 2018

Remember to check the performance of sheep grazing brassicas, this can be done through regular weighing, assessing fat or condition scoring.  If any sheep are not performing remove them from the brassica and instead either house or turn onto grass.

Monitor the feet of animals grazing brassicas, remove any sheep that are lame quickly and treat to reduce the spread of infection to other grazing stock.

Crutching and shearing the bellies of lambs will reduce soil contamination and stop the animals from getting too dirty.

Ensure there is a clean run back area for the animals to rest and ruminate.  If areas are getting dirty either look to offering run back in a next door field, or rolling out some straw to lie on.
