Oats
Scotland produced 175,800t of oats in 2018. Oats are produced primarily for milling for a variety of products such as oatcakes, porridge oats and oatmeal. They are also grown for livestock consumption and for use in speciality products such as horse feed. Oat production has been increasing in Scotland in recent years as it offers an alternative crop to both diversify a rotation and provide a break for disease such as Take All.
