Farm Wildlife Walk – Shetland

Book event

Come along for an evening walk hosted on Alan Fraser’s croft at North House, Setter, Walls.

Alan is a long-time participant in the Scottish Government’s Agri-Environment Climate Scheme (AECS). He will share why he is part of the scheme and how it benefits both him and the local birdlife. Hopefully we’ll catch a glimpse of some of the birdlife his croft is home to along the way.

We’ll also have visiting ecologist and SAC Senior Conservation Specialist, Paul Chapman with us. He will describe what management measures you can use to encourage and protect waders on your land as well as giving us an insight into why Shetland is still a haven for bird species that are declining drastically elsewhere in the country. He will also be on hand to answer any questions you might have on AECS, how it works and how to assess whether it might be a good option for your business.

Please wear suitable outdoor/waterproof clothing and footwear as this is an outdoor event. Booking is essential.

The walk will be an easy one but will not be suitable for those with restricted mobility.

Please use the above map for an exact meeting location. Alternatively, use the following What3Words location: Northhouse, Shetland.
