Mid Argyll Business Group Meeting (Ardrishaig) – event summary

29 June 2017

Background

Brexit, replacement for LFASS, public budget cuts, lack of opportunities for new entrants, uncertain markets, impending agricultural policy and support payment reform means there is nearly an unrivalled level of uncertainty in the sector at the moment. We will be running business orientated meetings over the next two years in the Mid Argyll area – four meetings in the 2017/18 year and 3 in 2018/19. The aim of these meetings is to help make Mid Argyll farming businesses more sustainable long term.

Group

The group is aimed predominately at farms which run sheep flocks but also suckler herds as well. Four meetings will be held in the 2017/18 year and three meetings in the 2018/19 year. I would like to secure a core of regular people who will attend the meetings.

29th June Meeting

The aim of this meeting is to set priorities and subjects to cover in the upcoming meetings as a group, discuss an overview of our area and introduce benchmarking and business analysis as a way to identify weaknesses and opportunities for businesses.
