Beef Sector

Spring can be a busy time for the beef sector.  Spring calving brings about its own challenges and with the hope that the weather will improve, farmers are busy trying to plan ahead for spring turnout.  The current situation that we now find ourselves in mean that other factors now have to be taken account of.

Putting in place contingency plans for how your farm would cope if you or any of your family/work team would become unwell is critical.  With the possibility of reduced demand for livestock through marts and abattoirs, a degree of forward planning for increased stocking numbers may also be necessary for the short term. There are other ways to arrange the sale of cattle and we have information below that explains some of the other options.  However, grassland management this year will even more important than ever this year.
