Maximising forage and utilisation throughout the year is key to an efficient and profitable beef system. By kind permission of James Biggar we will running a series of ‘Forage First’ field days looking at some forage trials James is undertaking to maximise homegrown forage and reduce wintering costs for his suckler herd.

The trials will look at the use of different forage crops and bale grazing but will also investigate the different strategies that can be adopted to help mitigate weather, land and labour challenges.
