‘Here’s one we planted earlier’ – Woodland creation (Strichen) North Elgin
This event will look at the benefits of woodland creation and the reasons for creating woodlands, with information on the grant support available.
We will also visit a woodland created by one of the pioneering farm foresters who entered the Grampian Forest Challenge Fund nearly 20 years ago. We will see the harvesting operations underway in this exceptionally high yielding forest and learn about the importance of thinning operations to create a high-value crop of sawlogs at maturity.
Topics for discussion
- Woodland creation and establishment
- Forestry Grant Scheme
- Woodland management
- Thinning and timber harvesting
- Profitable woodland ownership
The event is free but booking is essential as lunch is included.
