Dig into the world beneath your feet at our webinar on soil health with Dr Audrey Litterick. Audrey has over 30 years of experience as a crop and environmental scientist. She has held senior research posts at both Aberdeen University and SAC, where she worked in sustainable and organic crop production, crop nutrition, and soil management.

During the past 15 years, she has specialised in soil assessment, soil management, and the use of composts, digestates, fertilisers, and other organic materials in agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, and land restoration. She has a thriving vegetable garden at home.

Following the feedback from the event last summer at Tomnah’a Market Garden, this webinar is designed for market gardeners, veg growers, farmers and crofters, and soil enthusiasts seeking to improve their understanding of soil health, soil biology and their vital roles in sustainable horticulture and agriculture.

We will cover:

  • Assessing the health of your soils – what makes a healthy soil
  • Soil texture and soil structure
  • The importance of organic matter
  • Nutrient cycling
  • The interconnected web of organisms
  • How to improve soil health
