Labour: Simplifying the System
Sustainable Sheep Systems webinar 2
The popular Sustainable Sheep Systems series returns for its fifth season to focus one of the industry’s biggest challenges – labour.
As farm businesses face growing challenges in finding skilled and reliable workers, while also striving to maintain high animal welfare standards and a healthier work-life balance, making the best use of labour has never been more important. Efficient systems and labour management is essential, not only for productivity and profitability, but also for safeguarding the physical and mental wellbeing of farmers and workers.
Join as we engage with industry specialists over 3 webinars as we cover topics that centre around optimising labour and simplifying systems.
Part two of this series explores how sheep systems can be simplified to reduce labour demands and free up valuable time. Join us as SRUC researcher Dr Claire Morgan-Davies shares insights from SRUC’s Kirkton Farm, highlighting how the team identified key opportunities to save labour during lambing and the practical steps they took to make it happen. Through Claire’s co-ordination of the TechCare project, we will also look at what technological advances are available to streamline labour requirements.
