Quality Meat Scotland: Meat the Market – John M Munro, Dingwall
Farmers are invited to attend a practical workshop that will demonstrate the key handling points and the factors that need to be considered when selecting livestock for slaughter.
This practical event will cover beef and lamb and will be run with a very small group of farmers who will get a tour of the abattoir and cutting plant then move on to the auction market to view the prime sheep and cattle sale. After lunch in the market café a presentation on grading, meeting specifications and presenting livestock to maximise returns to the farmer will take place in the afternoon.
Lunch will be provided at Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd.
Those wishing to attend must book in advance, bring a form of ID like a passport or driving licence and be over 18. Numbers are strictly limited so early booking is essential.
Please note that there will be no phones or photography allowed in the abattoir and it is not permitted to wear make-up or jewellery, with the exception of a wedding band, during the workshop.
For booking enquiries, please contact Lesley Mitchell, Industry Development Co-ordinator at lmitchell@qmscotland.co.uk
