Wigtownshire Women in Agriculture – The Big Issues

Come along to our first Wigtownshire Women in Agriculture meeting of the 2022/23 syllabus where we will look at the current challenges facing farmers and support available to help tackle these.

With the costs of farm inputs rising at a rapid rate, it is more important than ever that farmers learn how to take control of their business and access tools and funding which can support/help their business thrive in these challenging and uncertain times.

This meeting will look at some of the current challenges faced by farmers such as rising input costs, volatile output prices and farming in a changing climate.

As part of this meeting, we will examine tools such as carbon audits, soil sampling and nutrient management plans which can all be used to benefit agricultural business – all of which are currently grant funded through the new National Test Programme.

We will also discuss the future of farm subsidies and how payments will be distributed this coming year.
