Campbeltown Beef Discussion Group – Electrify Your Profits (Event Summary)
26 July 2018Michael Shannon of Thankerton Farm, Biggar gave a comprehensive, factual presentation on maximising output of grass and root crops. A copy of Michael’s presentation is available to view below.
The key drivers are soil pH, nutrient status, good grass mixtures which must be fit for purpose and simplistic electric fencing.
Michael stressed everyone should know their costs of production and from that starting point should look at how it can be achieved.
The host farmer, Mr D MacAlister, began his journey a few years ago, and in discussion with delegates, agreed it is working for him.
